11/10/2007
On Saturday November 10th the Long Island Roller Rebels hosted the Cape Fear Roller Girls, all the way from Wilmington, North Carolina at Skate Safe America. The Rebels were up to a good start finishing the first period with a lead of 34 to 30. Cape Fear seemed fast, but quaked in their skates as giant hits from Anna Tramp and Captain Morgan sent them barreling to the ground. After the second period whistle blew, skaters from Cape Fear stepped up their game play as Tits McVenom and Crash Nasty put up twice as many points as the Rebels. The Cape Fear girls were definitely faster than the Rebel skaters, having trained with the highly recognized Carolina Roller Girls (ranked 3rd nationally) but the Rebels had an extra year of experience, which made the pack harder to engage. Blocking was very effective by the rebel skaters as Pivot Trixie Timebomb and Regine Bull were almost an impenetrable force to reckon with…also recognition to Helluva Bottom Carter and Amaretto Sourpuss for alternately holding the inside line for 60 minutes of pure roller derby action. The bout was close, in the final moments, the Rebels were down by what looked like 8 points on the scoreboard, but after a short ref meeting the corrected score was put on the board. With only 1 minute and 30 seconds left of game play, an outstanding effort was put forth by C-Roll, but only to fall short to Cape Fear 111-99. In the end, the score didn't matter as both teams played an outstanding bout; but more importantly they had a lot of fun!

While at practice in between bouting, Serial Mom took a bad fall and will be having surgery. The Roller Rebels had been scrimmaging when Mom went down with a hard fall. The girls were crowded around, but practice continued as we waited for the ambulance. After several visits in one week to the Orthopedic, Serial Mom will be having surgery including the placement of a plate and pins in her left leg. She fractured her leg in two places, one being a spiral fracture. Derby is all fun and games, and unfortunately sometimes skaters get hurt. We wish Mom a quick recovery and hope she gets back on her skates soon!

11/03/2007 -
On Saturday November 3rd the Long Island Roller Rebels traveled to Hunter College in NYC to have an exhibition bout against the Brooklyn Bombshells, the 3rd place team of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby league. In a game that was to determine the strength and improvement of the Long Island Roller Rebels, the rebels proved to be fearless, but that wasn't able to produce points on the scoreboard. Long Island skated hard and even faster with the more experienced members of the GGRD, but nothing could stop the fierce blocking of Hard Anya, Lil Red Terror, Anne Phetamine, Captain of the Bombshells and ex-league mate Aunti Christ (originally of the Wicked Wheelers of the West). This brought more turmoil to the track as all-star jammer, C-Roll was stopped dead in her tracks after so many amazing attempts at putting up more points for the Rebels. The Roller Rebels borrowed ex-skater Butterscotch Cripple (also of the Wicked Wheelers of the West). Outstanding blocking efforts made by Butterscotch Cripple and Captain Morgan, but the speed of the Bombshells was more than the Rebels could handle. The score ended at a 105 to 34 loss for the Roller Rebels, but the game's excitement kept fans on the edge of their seats for two 20 action packed minutes.

9/15/2007 - THUNDERCATS CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF 2007 SEASON!!
The day: September 15, 2007. The place: Skate Safe in Bethpage. The people: hundreds of screaming fans, dozens of volunteers, and a two teams of rollergirls, the Wicked Wheelers of the West (the defending champs) and the Mid-Island Rolling Thundercats (with an axe to grind), both determined to take home the Donna "Anita Fixxx" Joy Trophy, in all its Pabst-filled glory.
The whistle blew to get the party rolling, and the Wheelers took a quick and early lead. Regine Bull and Amaretto Sourpuss held it down for the Wheelers, with guest skaters Doomcake and Black Cherry of the Connecticut Rollergirls adding to the pile of points accrued at every jam.
By the second period, the Cats began to scratch, and soon narrowed the Wheeler lead to a handful of points. Fantastic jams by C-Roll, Roxie Heartless, and guest skater (also from CTRG) Pearl Jammer, the Wheelers soon realized they were in trouble. Not to be outdone, the witches dug deep and smashed the cats, jam after jam, maintaining a hairs' breadth of a lead.
Third period, the leader was impossible to determine. The score went from a tie to a two or three point lead in either direction. The Wheeler defense stepped up to its notorious and impenetrable reputation, and the Thundercats put the unstoppable C-Roll in for their last few jams. When the dust settled, the final score was 101-99, with the Mid-Island Rolling Thundercats rolling away with the trophy.
Congratulations to the hard-working and talented ladies that made the Cats victorious!! What a way to wrap up the LIRR season!
If you are still hungry for derby, join the Roller Rebels on their roadtrip to Connecticut! The CTRG are bouting on October 14, a Sunday, at their rink in Connecticut, and the Roller Rebels are taking the ride up to support and cheer for their friends! More details at ctrollerderby.com !

8/23/07-The LI Roller Rebels
have been skating fast and practicing hard for
the upcoming championship bout on 9/15! The returning
champions, the Wicked Wheelers, will take on the
Rolling Thundercats in a grudge match - last season,
the Thundercats were undefeated until they lost
to the Wheelers in the Championship bout. In the
meantime, Captain Morgan and Psycho Billy took
to the road, spending 10 hours driving to Columbus,
Ohio to help referee the Eastern Division National
Tournament. The tournament, entitled the Heartland
Havoc, comprised the best roller derby leagues
this side of the Mississippi. With Cinderella
stories taking place, 3 of the top 4 seeded teams
went home defeated, only showing how much roller
derby is growing on a national level! The four
teams that will represent the East Coast in the
National Division Tournament this September in
Austin, Texas will be first place, our sisters
in NY, Gotham Girls Roller Derby; second place,
Windy City; third place Carolina Rollergirls,
and fourth place, Detroit Derby Girls. More and
more leagues have been admitted into the Women's
Flat Track Derby Association, and as of today
their are 43 member leagues, including the Roller
Rebels. The Roller Rebels will be playing some
of these leagues in their upcoming 2008 season,
so be sure to stay tuned and keep updated when
tickets go on sale, you wouldn't want to miss
out!

8/16/07 - MadDonna, Captain Morgan, Jen
Party, MastaKate, Jefferee, Psycho Billy and the
infamous Bane Ana (the Wicked Wheelers mascot)
just returned from RollerCon! This is the annual
roller derby convention that takes place in Las
Vegas, Nevada. This year the convention was held
at The Imperial Palace, located directly on the
Strip, in central Las Vegas. Both MadDonna and
Captain Morgan participated in a challenge bout
entitled Diapers vs. Depends, playing for the
Diapers team, being that they are both under the
age of 30. It was a great mini bout played right
on Freemont Street in Old Downtown Las Vegas.
In the end, the Diapers were victorious with a
score of 92 to 17. While the Roller Rebels did
attend on and off skate workshops, they were also
able to scrimmage on a team consisting of over
200 skaters from all over the country in a Black
vs. White "pick-up" bout. The Roller
Rebels came home, not only hungover, but more
eager to school the league on what the nation
has come to in the sport of all female flat track
roller derby.

8/5/2007 - Warped Tour
at Nassau Coliseum
The only thing more unforgiving than the August
sun last week was the pavement of the Nassau Coliseum
parking lot, as your Long Island Roller Rebels
scrimmaged at the Warped Tour! With the pink team
and black team composed of a mishmosh of skaters
from all three regular season teams, the Rebels
demonstrated blocking, whipping, jamming, and,
yes, hitting, in the brutal summer sun. Alkaline
Trio could be heard in the background, interrupted
by cheers from our fans as another girl ate blacktop.
Ouch! At the end of the twenty-minute period,
the teams were both exhausted, with Ladies of
Laceration captain Trixie Timebomb going kablooey,
and reporting to the first aid tent with sunstroke.
With a final, extremely unofficial score of the
Black team walloping the Pink Team, the Rebels
scattered to cool off, watch Bad Religion, and
take pictures with fans. It was a sizzling good
time!
If you missed us at Warped, or if you saw us there
and now want to see us in our finest, frenetic,
frantic, fighting form; the Championship Bout
will take place at Skate Safe on September 15!
Tickets are available online as well as through
our sponsor locations throughout the island. Come
see defending champs Wicked Wheelers of the West
and avenging Roller Thundercats face off in a
grudge match like none other. Don't forget, party
with us after at the Black Haus Brewery, right
around the corner from Skate Safe! Come say hi,
and see you there!

7/14/2007 The
Wicked Wheelers vs. The Ladies of Laceration
The East End Ladies of Laceration failed to slice
through their winless season as the returning
champs Wicked Wheelers of the West conjured another
win last Saturday, with a final score of 119-117.
First period, things seemed to
be moving in the Ladies' favor. With lightning
fast jams by captain Trixie Timebomb, returning
jammer Dedly Weponz, and C-Roll (on loan from
the Thundercats), the Ladies took an early lead.
Things looked even darker for the Wheelers as
the clock ticked on, and their guest jammer Candi
Catastrophe of the Hudson Valley Horrors was injured
and removed from the bout. The Wheelers seemed
to stumble further when the unstoppable C-Roll
managed a heart-stopping twenty-point jam to close
the period.
However, the Wheelers would not
be crushed so quickly, and snuck back up on the
Ladies with powerful blocking and a steady accruing
of points by the newest Wheelers, Amaretto Sourpuss
and Regine Bull, as well as the indefatigable
Roxie Heartless (on loan from the Thundercats),
whom even a skate to the ribs and three-skater
pile-up couldn't stop! The score flipped one way,
then the other, as girls were tossed into the
crowd and jammers were frantically pulled through
the pack. By the end of the second, it was clear
this bout had become a nail-biting, edge-of-the-seat
affair.
As the third period began, the
two teams were a hair's breadth apart, with every
point and every penalty critical to the outcome
of the game. As Lady Anna Tramp (on loan from
the Thundercats) and Wheeler Carnage Electra were
ejected from play, the teams skated short and
stakes became even higher. In a final jam, the
Wheelers managed to nose ahead by the tiniest
bump, nudging out the Ladies by a mere two points.
The next season bout is September
15, at 7:00PM at Skate Safe. Will the Wheelers
continue their spellbinding domination? Or will
the Mid-Island Rolling Thundercats drop a house
on their fun? Be there to see!
And if you just can't wait a month
for more Long Island Roller Rebels, be sure to
check out the girls at Warped Tour! They'll be
skating in a Pink versus Black bout at Nassau
Coliseum on August 4. And you'll definitely want
to stay the day, there are some great acts playing,
including Bad Religion, Alkaline Trio, Tiger Army,
and Coheed and Cambria! Tickets to Warped Tour
are available (link).
Thanks to everyone who came out,
and see you in September!

July 7th 2007 - Congratulations Shania
Pain and DJ Andre Bermudez!
On 7/7/07 our P.R. Mistress, Shania Pain, and
our amazing bout DJ, Andre Bermudez, were married
during a beautiful ceremony in Shoreham, NY. These
derby lovebirds have been together for years and
we at LIRR could not be more excited for the pair.
You have to appreciate a couple who serve Jell-o
Shots at their wedding reception. You also should
be amazed that their relatives have yet to disown
them after witnessing drunken rollergirls hording
wine bottles, throwing cookies across adjacent
tables, brawling for a bouquet, and ending the
night with a game of Flip Cup. Thank you to the
Susskraut and Bermudez families for not calling
the authorities; we had a damn good time!

June 26th, 2007 -Butterscotch
Cripple has announced she will be moving to Philly.
Butterscotch has commuted the 100-mile hike to
Long Island for almost 2 years from NJ. Philly
Roller Girls is a much easier commute for this
Trentonite and although she will be GREATLY missed,
PRG will be happy to have her on one of their
4 home teams. For more information on PRG go to
www.PhillyRollergirls.com. Butterscotch Cripple
was head of the Sponsorship Committee in the 2006
season and has been head of the Coaching Staff
for the 2007 season. She has also been Co-Captain
to the Wicked Wheelers of the West and Co-Captain
to the Long Island Roller Rebels travel team.
In 2007 she was elected Best Pivot. We will miss
her severely, but wish her the best of luck!

June 20th 2007 -The Long Island
Roller Rebels are saying goodbye to Killer Tofu
and Thor. They are getting ready to drive across
the country to move out West. Killer Tofu will
be skating with Arizona Roller Derby and Thor
will be supporting the ref staff. For more information:
www.AZRD.com. Thor was head ref for the Long Island
Roller Rebels since our debut bout in February
of 2006. Killer Tofu has skated with the Long
Island Roller Rebels since October of 2005. She
has been a key player for the Wicked Wheelers
of the West and also on the Long Island Roller
Rebels travel team. They will be greatly missed,
but we wish them the best of luck!.

June 19th 2007 -Holly Cide was
hit by a motor vehicle while waiting outside our
practice rink for the doors of United Skates to
open. She had felt fine at first but than went
to her doctor the next to find out she had reopened
a laceration to her kidneys. Earlier in her Rollergirl
career Holly Cide was diagnosed with a Blood Disease
due to a laceration of her kidneys during a practice.
At this time she does not think she will be skating
again, but will remain on the LI Roller Rebels
as Support Staff. Holly Cide is the director of
bout Production and also Co-Captain of the Ladies
of Laceration..

May 12th, 2007- LADIES of LACERATION
vs. THE ROLLING THUNDERCATS
On Saturday May 12th, the East End Ladies
of Laceration took on the Mid Island Rolling Thundercats
in the Season opener of the Long Island Roller
Rebels Second Season. This is the first WFTDA
season for the Roller Rebels. The score ended
in a blow out with the Thundercats pulling ahead
with a final score of 133 to 91. The defense of
the Ladies was very strong, but incidentally it
coincided with their high amount of penalties.
Felon of Troy and HollyCide spent quite some time
in the penalty box, which left the Ladies short
a jammer on several occasions. This also made
it easy for jammers such as C-Roll (57 points)
and Magpie (26 points) to gain more points in
what seemed effortless. The Ladies loss of Domestic
Violet, a fresh blood recently added to the roster
had to sit out because of a pulled neck muscle,
was detrimental to the team. However, they borrowed
Lil' Tinkerhell from the Morristown Madams who
did a great job by adding 17 points to the scoreboard
for the Ladies. The highest scoring jammer for
the Ladies was Summer Slam (27 points), another
fresh blood added to the Ladies roster this season
and also playing for the LIRR all star travel
team, make sure to see more from her throughout
the season.
April 15th, 2007 -The Roller
Rebels had a charity bout this past weekend and
raised over $1,000, which was donated to the Suffolk
County Coalition against Domestic Violence. The
bout was simply titled Pink vs. Black and skaters
from the entire league were pulled together and
placed among enemies on these two teams to show
Long Island what the Roller Rebels are capable
of! The bout was one of the closest in Roller
Rebel history with a score of 106-97. The black
team held on by a hair until the end when Trixie
Timebomb let loose and put a massive 13-point
jam on the board during the final minutes of the
bout. Look forward to the season opener to be
held on Saturday May 12th at Skate Safe when the
Ladies of Laceration take on the Rolling Thundercats!
March 20th, 2007 -The Roller
Rebels travel team returns home after a long weekend
of Derby Packed Action. The ECE or East Coast
Extravaganza was held this past weekend in Philly
hosted by the Philly Rollergirls. Skaters were
able to sign up individually and skate with such
talented skaters from Gotham, Philly, Providence,
Boston and Carolina. The Roller Rebels Travel
team also had there first inter-league WFTDA sanctioned
bout win against the newer Steel City Derby Demons
from Pittsburgh PA. With a score of 117-87 C-Roll
was the Roller Rebels #1 jammer by putting 84
points on the scoreboard.

March 4th 2007 -The Long Island
Roller Rebels travel team matched up with the
Charm City Rollergirls in Baltimore Maryland.
Both leagues were playing there first ever WFTDA
sanctioned bout. The BBC television network was
there to nationally broadcast the outcome and
what flat track roller derby is all a “bout.”
The Long Island Roller Rebels played short with
injured skaters and were missing some of there
top skaters such as Anna Tramp and C-Roll, and
had fought a great battle, but never the less
fell more than short to Charm City’s awesome
line up. With just over a 180 pt differential
the Roller Rebels learned a lot and will take
home more than a lesson learned from Charm City.

February, 2007-mrRAWK and Psycho
Billy are on there way to Tucson, Arizona to represent
the Long Island Roller Rebels by guest reffing
at the Dust Devil Tournament. This is the Western
Division Tournament for the Women’ Flat
Track Derby Association. Captain Morgan also tagged
along to watch some of the best roller derby action
the United States has to offer. The top 4 seeded
teams who will be headed to the national tournament,
to be held in Austin Texas in September, will
be: (from 1st to last place)
Rat City Rollergirls (Seattle, WA), Tucson Roller
Derby (Tucson, AZ) Texas Rollergirls (Austin,
TX) Kansas City Rollergirls (Kansas City, MI).
The Eastern Division National Tournament will
be held in Ohio, hosted by the Ohio Rollergirls
from August 17th-August 19th. The LI Roller Rebels
are a division 3 league, so they are ineligible
to participate this year in the Tournament but
look forward to checking out future competition.
January, 2007-Recruiting is
going GREAT! We have recruited even more skaters
than last month! Some more fresh bloods learning
the ropes to look out for in the 2007 season are:
Magpie, Regine Bull, Jager Bombshell, Elle 7,
Summer Slam, Bible Belt-her, and Domestic Violet.
With more and more girls joining the LI Roller
Rebels we expect this season to be very competitive!

December 20th, 2006 -CONGRATULATIONS!
The Long Island Roller Rebels have been accepted
into the WFTDA or the Women’s Flat Track
Derby Association. This is the national organizing
body for all female flat track roller derby. For

have been accepted into the WFTDA. The WFTDA currently
has 35 member leagues. With over 108 leagues in
the country, the Roller Rebels feel extremely
privileged to have been welcomed into the WFTDA
and are anxious to compete and learn from leagues
who have been around since the earlier part of
the decade.

December, 2006 -The Long Island
Roller Rebels are getting ready to roll in the
New Year by recruiting fresh new skaters for there
upcoming season. Some fresh bloods recently added
to our roster waiting to be placed on a team are:
Amaretto Sourpuss, Agnes Agony, Trigger Happy
Jackie, Peta Sassin and Butcher Baby

ARCHIVE:
Due to an injury sustained in the season opening
bout, star jammer Vicious Panties has retired
as a skater from the Wicked Wheelers of the West.
We are excited to have her as the Wheelers' coach
and trainer.
